CHALLENGES

Coravin operates in 3 regions, North America, Europe and the Asia Pacific. As a fast-growing business, reactivity, agility and rapid access to expertise across the world are needed. Coravin’s existing IT infrastructure was complex, very fragmented with multiple partners per region, working in silos, and leaving them with no visibility on order status and workflow performances. Coravin’s ERP seated in the middle of the logistic operations created a lot of bottlenecks and point of failures.

The fragmentation of the global infrastructure made it very difficult to get an accurate inventory per country and globally. They needed to simplify and improve the monitoring of the order flows coming from multiple channels – Retail in EDI, eCommerce platforms or manual orders.

At this time, they had almost no monitoring or alerts of issues and they could not support certain specifications and capabilities their retailer partners requested. They needed a holistic view of all orders from all sales channels and a means to connect their web commerce platform, their retailers, and fulfillment centers. Coravin sought a robust order management solution, but even as important, a true end-to-end eCommerce partner.

Another important consideration was selecting a provider that had experience seamlessly connecting the Magento eCommerce platform and most of large US retailers on EDI. Coravin had struggled with quickly onboarding big-box retailers as it continued to expand its B2B business.

SOLUTION AND RESULTS

Coravin selected Jagged Peak’s EDGE® Order Management Solution and FlexNet fulfillment services. Their contract with a preexisting shipping company was ending, so they had an extremely tight timeline for planning and deployment of the first phase of their project.

The Coravin and Jagged Peak team had completed a complicated connectivity with Magento, and connections with Amazon and their many retail partners including Bed Bath and Beyond, Best Buy, Macy’s, and Bloomingdales. A dedicated team was put in place with an organized plan which enabled the project to be rolled out successfully and on time.

EDGE and FlexNet fulfillment were deployed just before the holiday months and they had an incredible season. “We knew we would see an increase in sales, but didn’t anticipate such a dramatic spike in orders” commented Francois Silvain. “If we were not working with Jagged Peak we would have crashed totally. Jagged Peak helped minimize out-of-stock situations and optimize inventory”. The Coravin team was both appreciative of the capability of the EDGE solution, but the staff of Jagged Peak that supported them during Thanksgiving, Cyber Monday and Christmas time. Coravin was pleased to hear how quickly customers received their orders over Black Friday and Cyber Monday – on average orders are reached consumers in 2-3 days.

Coravin now has a complete view of all orders, from all channels from all warehouses including Europe. With the EDGE technology leveraging least cost routing (LCR) and provider optimization, Coravin is shipping by the quickest, cheapest method. Separation of B2B Trade orders from B2C consumer provides a highly efficient process.
